Article 11 of the May 4, 2009 Annual Town Meeting appropriated $20,000 "to be expended by the Permanent Municipal Building Committee, as directed by the Town Meeting, for the purpose of funding a feasibility study for a track and field facility." Article 9 of the May 3, 2010 Annual Town Meeting then amended that action by appropriating from Undesignated Fund Balance the additional sum of $35,000 "to be expended by the Permanent Municipal Building Committee, as directed by the Town Meeting, to continue the design and development of a track and/or multi-purpose field facility and for expenses incidental and related thereto."

Existing Track Site Selected.  Sites considered in the feasibility study were (1) the existing track parcel near the Russell Street School, (2) the football field parcel between the Russell Street School and the Middle School, and (3) the High School parcel. On Monday, April 12, 2010, the Board of Selectmen reconvened a meeting with the School Committee, Park & Recreation Commission, Permanent Municipal Building Committee, Littleton Track Organization, Finance Committee, and Community Preservation Committee to try to reach a consensus about the location of the track project. Site 1, the existing track site was selected, having been supported by the School Committee, the Littleton Track Organization, and the Board of Seletmen.

Littleton Track and Field Funding Committee.  On March 22, 2010, the Board of Selectmen voted to establish a Littleton Track and Field Funding Committee comprised of 7 to 10 members, including representatives from town government, the business community, and track supporters to develop and implement a public-private fund-raising campaign for a track and field facility in the Town of Littleton. Interested persons may submit completed application forms to the Board of Selectmen, Littleton Town Offices, 37 Shattuck St, Littleton, MA 01460. On September 13, 2010, the Board of Selectmen appointed Marc Saucier, Marianne Heer, Gerald Portante, Cindy Heitmeyer, and Selectman Alex McCurdy to this committee.

The PMBC and Gale Associates conducted a public briefing on the results of the Track Feasibility Study Report on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at 7 PM in the Community Room at the Littleton Police Headquarters, 500 Great Road. On December 17, 2009, Gale Associates, Inc. submitted its report to the PMBC.

On September 30, 2009, the PMBC voted to recommend that the football field parcel proceed to the design stage. Results of the preliminary feasibility study were presented to the Board of Selectmen on Monday, October 5, 2009.
