1. How do I get my smoke detectors inspected?

When selling a home, it is a state requirement that the smoke detectors of the home be inspected by the local fire department prior to closing. This can be scheduled at any time by calling 978-540-2302; please note that someone is required to be present at the time of inspection. The current requirements are available. Please review them to ensure compliance before scheduling your inspection. The fee for this is $50 and a certificate is provided upon passing inspection. 2. When is Open Burning Season?

Open burning runs from January 15th to April 30th. A valid permit is required, the permit can be obtained either by visiting the department or purchasing a permit online through fire prevention. The fee for this is $10.
