1/2 Day Painting with
Julie Harrold

Join Art Educator Julie Harrold in a fun seasonal acrylic painting of this Peeking Penguin! Participants will use blending techniques and add details that make all the difference! Acrylic painting on 11x14 canvas.
This art class is for children 8 years and up. Sign up online as space is limited to 12 participants.
Julie Harrold has a BFA in Studio Arts, is a former Elementary art teacher/Art director and currently a homeschool mom who also teaches art classes in her spare time. Please sign up online as space is limited.
P.J. Story Time
with special guest reader Michelle Barth - Shaker Lane Kindergarten teacher!

Join Mr. Seth for a fun-filled, action-packed book club! We will have a fun discussion, play games, do a book-related craft and have a snack! Copies of Because of Winn Dixie by Kate DiCamillo will be behind the circulation desk and you can pick them up beginning January 1! Just tell the librarians at the desk that you need a copy of the 4th grade book club book.
5th Grade Book Club

Copies of The First State of Being by Erin Entrada Kelly will be behind the circulation desk and you can pick them up beginning January 1! Pokémon Club

Do you like Pokémon? Looking for someone to play with, trade cards, and chat about all that is Pokémon? This club is for you! Bring your Pokémon cards if you have some. If you do not have cards, we will have decks for in-library use. We'll have trading, battling, crafts, and more!
Pokémon masters and beginners welcome!
Lego Club
For ages 6 and up*
Jan. 27: 4-5:30pm
Come in and play with our THOUSANDS of Legos! Your unique creations will go on display in the gallery when completed! This is a drop-in event!
*Younger siblings can join in playing with our Duplos under a parent's supervision!
Busy Bees

We have toys and a nice warm room! What more do you need to have a fun play time? Just add young children!
All preschool aged children are invited with their caregivers to come and play in the RHL Sturtz Room!
It will be a nice time to meet other parents while your children are busy bees and play with others.
This is a drop-in event. Please come and join us!
Sign Up to Display your Special Collection!
Do you have a favorite collection (action figures, rocks, bobbleheads, etc.) that you would love other people to see? We have a new display case and would love to show off your collection! Stop by the Children's Room and sign up for a 2 week block in which we will showcase your stuff! It locks, too, so you can know that your collection will stay safe! If you have any questions, ask Miss Jennifer or Mr. Seth.

Massachusetts Children's Book Award 2025-2026 Nominees
The new list is available and the books are located near the door in the Children's Room.
Massachusetts Children’s Book Award honors books that promote reading for pleasure among students in grades four through six.
Read any five books and you will be able to vote for your favorite in April 2026.
The Massachusetts Children's Book Award is sponsored by Salem State University
